Wild Wednesdays: Today at 3:30 p.m. Today's topic is "Nests and Nooks". Birds make their homes high and low, in nests, in holes or on rocks. Explore the handiwork of nature's feathered architects and try your hand at building a nest like the birds do.

Preschool Discovery Days: "Roots, Shoots, Spring and Sprouts". 1 p.m. Thursday. $4 per child/adult chaperones are free. Ages 3-5. Come celebrate all things new at the Ogden Nature Center. Whether green and growing, newly hatched, or shaky legs upon hooves setting out for the first time, appreciate your own growth and development in the mirror of nature. Dress for the weather. Space is limited. Please call (801) 621-7595 to pre-register.

Tree Top Treasure Hunt: 9 am-noon Saturday. $2 members/$5 non-members. This program will start with an introduction to birding basics and the rules for a successful treasure hunt around the nature preserve. You and your family will have until noon to find up to 25 different bird cutouts hidden among the trees.

Wildflower Hikes: Today and every Wednesday in May, join us for a wildflower hike. Bring a wildflower guide if you have one. All outings start at 9 a.m. Call Helene for hike location at (801) 745-1799.

Easy-Moderate Hikes: 6 p.m. May 18 at South Bonneville Shoreline Trail. For more information, contact Polly at (801) 645-3236.

Family Hikes: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Birdsong Trail. Meet other families on the trails for a morning of fun in the sun. For more information, please call Sara at (801) 682-5545.

OGDEN SIERRA CLUB

 

Annual Spring Social: 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The spring social will be held at the home of John Hinds and Karen Thurber. Those who would like to join in a short hike prior to the meal should plan on being there at 4 p.m. The potluck social will follow at 5:30. Beverages, plates, and utensils will be provided. Enrollment is open for the 2010 Salomon Center Adventure Summer Camps. The nontraditional indoor skydiving, indoor surfing and rock climbing camps provide expert tips and advance instruction to sharpen one's adventure aptitude this summer. The camps will begin the first full week of June and will continue throughout the summer. Pre-registration is required.
