CASPER, Wyo. -- The Casper Ghosts -- backed by Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton -- handed the Raptors their third straight loss with an 8-4 spanking at Mike Lansing Field on Saturday night in Pioneer League play.
Casper's offense struck early as Christhian Adames singled to left field, coming around to score on a Helton double.
Helton's RBI double was his first hit since coming down to the Pioneer League from the Colorado Rockies to rehab from lower back stiffness that has kept him off the field with the Rockies since early July.
Saturday's game was Helton's second of three he is scheduled to play with Casper -- the Rockies affiliate in the Pioneer League. He finished the night 2-for-4 with a base hit, RBI double, and a walk.
Helton would come around to score on another double from Corey Dickerson and the Ghosts jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first.
Ogden answered in the top of the second when Blake Dean got on with a base hit, and moved to third on Steve Domecus' double to left.
Casio Grider (3-for-4; three singles, walk) scored Dean with a base hit and Leon Landry's line drive single to right scored Domecus to tie things up in the second. Landry currently holds the fourth best batting average in the league at .361 and the RBI was his 19th.
Casper went to work on Ogden southpaw Antonio Castillo in the third, scoring four runs on three hits, capped by a three-run triple from Juan Crousset putting the Ghosts up 6-2.
Castillo (3-4) pitched 31âÑ3 innings and gave up eight earned runs on ten hits. The lefthander also walked four, struck out three and gave up one homerun.
Ogden cut Casper's lead to three at the top of the fourth after Domecus scored from third on a sacrifice fly to right from Landry.
The Ghosts answered again in the bottom of the fourth scoring two more on a shot over the right center fence from Adames who finished the night 3 for 5 with two base hits, a home run and two RBI's.
After relieving Castillo in the fourth, right-hander Jake McCarter held Casper scoreless through 3 2âÑ3 innings, allowing a single hit and striking out four. It wasn't enough as the Raptors had a tough time finding home plate despite outhitting the Ghosts 13-12.
Ogden (23-16) wraps up the short series with the Ghosts (18-21) tonight, before returning home on Monday night to open a three-game home stand with the Idaho Falls Chukars.
