A bunch of guys are counting down the minutes until fall football camps begin on college campuses up and down the state.
And that includes the coaches.
Ron McBride begins his sixth season coaching the Weber State Wildcats on Friday when he welcomes 90 players to fall camp.
The 'Cats will stage media day on Thursday at Stewart Stadium, then hold a pair of helmet-only workouts. The first full-padded practice is on Aug. 11 as WSU prepares for its opener on Sept. 4 at Boston College.
Practices are open to the public.
Second-year Utah State coach Gary Andersen is excitied to get going as well, but won't welcome the Aggies into camp until Monday. The Aggies open on Sept. 4 at Oklahoma.
Utah opens its annual preseason camp with an afternoon practice on Thursday. Kyle Whittingham and th Utes open the season on Sept. 2 when they host Pittsburgh. Practices are closed to the public.
BYU's first practice of fall camp takes place this Saturday. The newcomers start at 3:30 p.m. and the veterans begin at 4 p.m. Fans are invited to practices on Aug. 13, 14 and 19. BYU's season opener is Sept. 4 when the Cougars host Washington.
New Southern Utah University coach Ed Lamb got the Thunderbirds out on the practice field this past Monday as they prepare for their opener on Sept. 4 at Wyoming. Dixie State College will get workouts under way Saturday in preparation for their opener on Aug. 28 at Adams State.
