PLAIN CITY -- It was a mismatch before the game even started and the Fremont Silverwolves didn't disappoint.
Behind 164 yards rushing and two touchdowns from Nick Vigil as well as solid play from sophomore quarterback Jordan Preator, the Wolves ran all over Roy on Friday night, 42-0, in the teams' Region 1 opener.
Vigil averaged 9.1 yards per carry and scored the game's first two touchdowns. Preator followed with a six yard scoring TD of his own and then threw a laser touchdown pass to Rowdy Stucki to give Fremont a 28-0 lead by halftime.
"We're better than we were a year ago and we're better now than we were last week," Fremont coach Kory Bosgieter said. "I'm proud of our kids."
The win was a satisfying turnaround for the Silverwolves after they let their season-opener against Jordan get away from them last week.
"Last week we played 15 good minutes," Bosgieter said. "We played a few more than that tonight. I'm proud of our kids because they bounced back. That (loss) was tough on us. We didn't feel like we played as well as we were capable of, so I'm proud of what our kids did tonight against a Roy team that has some very skilled players."
In the fourth quarter, Fremont added a pair of scores on a 19-yard run by Bo Smith and a 10-yard pass to Stucki from backup quarterback Cooper Kelley.
