Raptors shell Ghosts for 2nd straight night

OGDEN -- A day after setting a franchise record for wins it was back to business, as the Raptors dismantled the Casper pitching corps for the second night in a row, sweeping the Ghosts with an 11-7 win at Lindquist field on Sunday afternoon.

Hitting .360 as a team with 13 home runs in the last five games, Ogden hammered out 17 hits, while the Raptors bullpen struck out seven, allowing nine hits through the afternoon.

"This home stand we played some really solid ball," Ogden skipper Damon Berryhill said. "These guys know what's at stake and they know what they have to get done and we're excited to get going in the playoffs."

Ogden wasted no time scoring, as Bobby Coyle (.305) brought Leon Landry home with a base hit up the middle in the first.

Coyle leads the Raptors with 50 RBI's with four during Sunday's game, as he went 4-for-5 at the plate with four singles.

"I was just trying to go out there and give Eovaldi some run support and luckily I got a few good pitches to hit," Coyle said.

After Landry scored, Nick Akins cleared the bases and took sole possession of the league lead for homeruns with his 15th dinger of the year, giving the Raptors a 3-0 lead.

Jonathan Garcia smacked a stand-up double after Akins' home run, scoring from third on Jesse Bosnik's two-out RBI double to right field.

Casper got on the board in the second inning, as Will Swanner and Juan Crousset both scored with two outs.

Up 4-2, Casio Grider scored Guerrero with a base hit to left field, and came around to make it 6-2, as Coyle brought him home, logging his second RBI of the game.

Nathan Eovaldi nabbed a win in his first start as a Raptor, working five innings and giving up two runs on five hits.

Ogden extended its lead in the fourth inning, as Coyle brought Landry home for the third time, coming around to score himself, as Blake Dean sent an RBI single to right field.

Distributing five runs through the remaining six innings, Ogden closed out an impressive series with Casper and re-asserted their dominance in the Pioneer League South.

The Raptors (21-12) head to Orem (16-18) for the first two games of a split series with the Owlz before finishing out the season with two games at Lindquist field on Wednesday and Thursday night.
