DETROIT -- The Detroit Lions have signed seven players to their practice squad, including rookie wide receiver Tim Toone, the seventh-round pick dubbed Mr. Irrelevant as the final choice of the draft.
Toone capped a standout career at Weber State University with his NFL draft selection, but was waived on Saturday.

Several other football players with Utah ties, including Canadian Football League star John Chick, were also re-signed to practice squads.
The Carolina Panthers have signed eight players to the practice squad, including former Atlanta Braves star Dale Murphy's son.
Guard Shawn Murphy has bounced around after being Miami's fourth-round pick in 2008 after playing at Utah State.
He and Dan Santucci will provide depth for Carolina's thin offensive line in practice. The Panthers also signed six players to the practice squad Monday they cut two days earlier, including cornerback R.J. Stanford out of Utah.
The Colts announced Monday they had signed three players, one day after Indy re-signed five players that had been cut, including Chick, a former Utah State standout, quarterback Tom Brandstater and three rookies.
Dallas re-signed OL Travis Bright (BYU) and Miami re-signed DL Ray Feinga (BYU).
