SOUTH JORDAN -- The Weber High girls basketball squad defeated Bingham 57-49 on Saturday afternoon in non-league action.
Des Young scored 14 points and Lindsey Gavin, Kenney Allen and Erica Olpin added nine points apiece to lead the Warriors (3-0).
"We need to learn to close teams out," Weber coach Rick Stoeckl said. "We grew tentative at the end."
* BOX ELDER 47, BEN LOMOND 41: At Brigham City, the Bees won an intense battle with the Scots to square their record.
Katie Vincent scored 19 points and added 11 rebounds. She scored 13 of her points in the fourth quarter and teamed up with Stephanie Ormsby to hit clutch free throws in the final minutes.
Kaylee Walker added nine points for Box Elder.
Kambri Broad led Ben Lomond with 15 points.
* MORGAN 63, BONNEVILLE 21: At Washington Terrace, the Trojans were ready but the host Lakers weren't ready to play in th Burchell Classic championship game.
Ashley Garfield scored 13 points to lead Morgan to the victory. The Trojans led 24-9 at halftime.
Megan Tanner led Bonneville with eight points.
Fremont edged Northridge in the early game. No details were reported from that game.
* CHRISTIAN HERITAGE 76, ESCALANTE 15: At Riverdale, Emilie Volk scored 29 points and added 10 assists and nine steals for the Crusaders. Britnee Hurlbut scored 19 points, while Breanna Hurlbut added 16 points and six steals. Josi Rydin added seven steals for CHS.
Boys basketball
* EAST 83, BEN LOMOND 61: At Ogden, the Scots couldn't keep up with the high-scoring Leopards in the Pepsi Classic finale.
Josh Hardin led Ben Lomond with 15 points.
* ESCALANTE 46, CHRISTIAN HERITAGE 39: At Riverdale, the Crusaders dropped a tough battle at home. Escalante was stronger in the final quarter to earn the win.
Levi Koehler led CHS with 19 points and four steals, while Victor Schmidt added five points and 11 rebounds.
* SOUTH SEVIER 68, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 53: At Richfield, the Eagles fell despited 15 points from David Gallegos and 11 from Quincy Mason.
Leading scorer Colin Greenhill left the game early with a hand injury.
