A bird with a band is worth cash in the hand

ABERDEEN, S.D. -- There are few sights as fetching as a rooster pheasant taking flight over a cattail marsh in December.

With a red-and-green head, white-collared neck, iridescent body plumage and long, barred tail feathers, the bird is naturally well-dressed for the holidays.

Royal, some would say. Hallucinogenic, I might add.
