Roy High's No. 2 squad claimed the Northern Utah Bowling League team title, while several bowlers claime singles and doubles titles during season-ending competition last Thursday at Sparetime Fun Center in Roy.
In doubles, Erin Creager and Bryan Chappell (Morgan No. 2) won the doubles first division title with a two-pin edge over Teesha Brown and Jason Willmore (Roy 2). In the doubles second division, Austin Murphy and Dillan Oram (Roy No. 2) topped Kenneth Chavez and Adam Turner (Roy No. 1) by five pins.
In boys singles, Chappell and Justin Cervinski (North Davis) tied for the first division title, while Jake Sherman (Syracuse No. 1) topped teammate Layton Fralick for the second division title.
In girls singles, Brown topped Kayla Jameson (Syracuse No. 1) in the first division, while Mallori Parker (Roy No. 1) topped Creager (Morgan No. 2) in the second division.
The state high school finals tournament will be April 2 at Sparetime in Roy.
Darts, Wolves, Titan earn recognition
Six local football underclassmen are part of the Scout.com Northwest top 50 released for spring.
The group includes Davis defensive end Troy Hinds, and Darts offensive linemen Zach Lindsay and Spencer Rudolph, as well as Fremont running back Nick Vigil and defensive end Jake Gallegos, along with Syracuse defensive end Hunter Dimick. he list includes eight other Utah preps.
Hinds also claimed a spot on the 2010 ESPN Rise junior All-America list.
Hinds claimed a spot on the prestigious honor roll's third team.
Montana Tech adds a Syracuse receiver
Montana Tech football coach Chuck Morrell has announced the addition of 10 players to the Oredigger football team.
The group includes Clearfield wide receiver Braxton Lucero.
Pepperdine adds soccer recruit
The Pepperdine women's soccer program announced the signings of seven high school seniors to national letters-of-intent last week.
The group included Weber High midfielder/forward Kristine Hilliard.
Hillard is part of the La Roca club team that sent eight girls to Division I scholarships in the latest signing period.
