Lillard, two other Wildcats officially granted redshirts

OGDEN -- A trio of Weber State athletes were granted medical redshirts on Thursday following approval from the Big Sky Conference NCAA faculty representatives and the presidents of the conference schools.

Standout point guard Damian Lillard will have two more seasons as a Wildcat. Lillard was officially granted his medical redshirt petition Thursday, following approval from presidents of the Big Sky schools. The other two are soccer forward Kierstin Raught and softball infielder Ashley Huddleston.

Lillard, who will be a junior for the Wildcats this fall, played in nine games for the Wildcats during the 2010-11 season before suffering a foot injury that forced him to miss the remainder of the season.

Lillard was named the 2009-10 Big Sky Conference MVP after his sophomore season in which he helped lead the Wildcats to their second-straight Big Sky title. As a true freshman in 2008-09, he was a unanimous selection to the All-Big Sky first team and was named the league's freshman of the year.
