Krystkowiak presents Bahamas trip to recovering lymphoma patient

New Utah basketball coach Larry Krystkowiak helped a lifelong Ute fan take a step toward his dream earlier this week through a Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah presentation.

Tuesday at the Huntsman Center, Krystko presented Dalton DeVore with a trip to the Bahamas, where he plans fulfill his wish to swim with sharks.

DeVore, 17, and his family will travel to Atlantis in the Bahamas in July. The Salt Lake City youth's lymphoma is currently in remission.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants about 140 wishes in Utah a year.

This year's Stanley Cup Finals coaches -- Vancouver's Alain Vigneault and Boston's Claude Julien -- were teammates on the Salt Lake Golden Eagles in 1981-82 and 1982-83.

Former Utah Grizzlies defenseman Keith Ballard is also in the finals, playing for the Canucks.

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies just got a new regional rival, as the Colorado Eagles will join the ECHL's Western Conference this fall.

The Eagles, based in Loveland just outside of Fort Collins, play at the Budweiser Events Center, which is 486 miles from Maverik Center.

The Eagles will be Utah's third closest regional rival behind Idaho (345 miles) and Las Vegas (424 miles). The season begins Oct. 14.
