OGDEN -- Nearly 100 top Utah high school senior baseball players will gather this weekend at Lindquist Field for the Utah All-Star Baseball Games.

The all-stars include 21 Top of Utah performers.

The tripleheader, now in its 67th year, will start at noon with the 3-A game, followed by the 5-A game at about 3:30 p.m., and the 4-A contest at 7 p.m. The teams square off in a North vs. South format.

Coaches from across the state submitted players for selection. College and pro scouts are also interested attendees each year.

Admission is free.

The games provide a fun atmosphere, as Region 1 rivals like Northridge's Kaden Eichmeier and Layton's Parker Lunt find themselves on the same squad, along with Weber's Daniel Peterson, Fremont's Austin Combe and Tayson Wilson, Clearfield's Daniel Johnson and Davis' Jared Taylor. Roy's Brock McCashland and Syracuse's Jake Hewitt will also participate in the 5-A game.

The game also offers a chance at North vs. South bragging rights, as players like Box Elder's Kyle King, Bonneville's Sam Hall and Bryan Heward, as well as Mountain Crest's Rhett Parkinson and Kye Raymond try to rough up the team from the south. Logan's Greg Vernier, Sky View's Cole Godfrey, Bountiful's Taylor Byington, and Woods Cross' Austin Bankowski also will represent the 4-A North squad.

The contest can also be a final opportunity to play with longtime teammates. Bear River's trio of Hunter Payne, Cade Capener and Dixon Marble were chosen to play for the 3-A North.
