Outlaws finally find answer for BYU, manage draw

PROVO -- The Outlaws' offense finally solved the Cougars' defense.

Elias Hatungimana scored in the second half, lifting Ogden to a 1-1 draw with arch-rival BYU late Saturday night at South Field.

It's the second draw in three meetings this season between the Utah-based Premier Development League sides.

Ogden moves to 0-9-3, picking up their third point of the season, while denying BYU its first winning streak of the season.

BYU scored the opening goal of the match on a penalty kick, taking a 1-0 lead deep into the second half until Hatungimana scored to equalize. It was the first goal in the three matches this season that the Outlaws have scored on the Cougars defense.

The draw also snapped a seven-match losing streak by Ogden.

The Outlaws will travel to Southern California next weekend for their final road matches of the season, taking on the L.A. Blues 23 and Southern California Seahorses in California on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

* FC DALLAS 2, CREW 0: At Frisco, Texas, Brek Shea and Jackson Goncalves scored second-half goals to lift FC Dallas to a win over the Columbus Crew.

FC Dallas won its third straight game and goalkeeper Kevin Hartman finished with five saves for his second straight shutout and ninth of the season.

In the 58th minute, Shea scored after he rebounded a missed shot by Marvin Chavez and tapped a shot into the center of the net from the top of the goalie's box.

Goncalves scored in the 76th minute after he raced past Columbus' Danny O'Rourke and chipped a shot over Hesmer's head from just inside the top of the penalty box.

Hartman made a two-handed save in the 68th minute to stop Emmanuel Ekpos shot from inside 10 yards.

The Crew's Andy Iro was sent off with eight minutes to go for a reckless foul on Chavez.

* UNION 2, UNITED 2: At Washington, Carlos Ruiz scored his fifth goal of the season in the 84th minute to help the Philadelphia Union earn a draw with D.C. United.

Sebastien Le Toux sent a long ball down the right side to Sheanon Williams, who quickly directed a cross to Ruiz charging down the middle. Ruiz then scored from five yards, giving him goals in consecutive games, as the Union (7-4-6) salvaged a point despite never leading.

United (4-5-7) took the lead when Andy Najar fired a 35-yard strike in the 58th minute. That briefly made up for Perry Kitchen's own goal in the 49th minute, a redirect from the middle of the box off Veljko Paunovic's cross. It proved costly as United's winless streak reached five games.

Dwayne De Rosario assisted on Josh Wolff's goal in the 44th minute in his first game with United since being acquired from the New York Red Bulls on Monday.
