Outlaws finally pick up first win of year

LA MIRADA, Calif. -- After weeks of being close, the Ogden Outlaws finally broke through.

Taking to the road for the final time this season, Ogden earned four out of a possible six points during a two-night, two-match road trip through Southern California.

Ogden earned a 1-1 draw with the Southern California Seahorses late Saturday night, with Andy Cornia scoring off an assist by Joe Hickman in the 67th minute.

The Outlaws held that 1-0 lead until an 84th minute penalty kick by the Seahorses leveled the match at one goal each.

Ogden missed a penalty of its own in the first half, which could have given the Outlaws a nearly insurmountable lead.

On Friday night, Ogden earned its first win of the season by knocking off the L.A. Blues 23 2-1 at Pacific Palisades, Calif., rallying from a 1-0 deficit.

Cornia scored the equalizing goal in the 64th minute off an assist from Chance Bukoski, while Bukoski converted the game-winner in the 76th minute.

With the win and the tie, Ogden now owns a season-best three match unbeaten streak (1-0-2) heading into the final two weekends of the season at home.

Ogden (1-9-4, 7 points) will face in-state rival BYU on Saturday at 6 p.m. in its next outing.
