Violent wind storm leaves path of destruction across the West

PASADENA, Calif. — Violent winds that wreaked havoc in Western states eased Friday but hundreds of thousands of people remained without power and crews struggled to clean up smashed trees, toppled power lines and debris-strewn roadways.

Utah got in way of flow from Wyo. to Ariz.

OGDEN -- Along with a lot of downed trees, busted windows, broken signs and shorted-out power lines, wind storms like the one that smacked Top of Utah on Thursday leave a whole lot of people asking, "what was that all about?"

NWS warns of winter storm Friday

A cold front will cross Northern Utah starting Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter storm is expected to follow the front and bring several hours of heavy snow in the evening.
