In action taken recently, city leaders approved a sale agreement to purchase 10 additional street lights from Rocky Mountain Power for $2,090. The county has been paying for the 10 streetlights for the past 15 years, due to confusion in the ownership issue, according to City Manager Dave Millheim.

City manager, Matthew Dixon, said all current street lights will be retrofitted with higher quality lighting that will save hundreds of dollars in operation fees. Savings from the new system will be used to pay for the installation of the lights over the next nine years. The project is expected to be completed by the end of June.

“I think we should at least meet our minimum standard,” Harris said.

City Councilman Wade Bigler asked that the council discuss where the street lights should be put at the meeting scheduled for May 8.
