SALT LAKE CITY -- A former Box Elder County sheriff’s deputy has pleaded not guilty to eight federal misdemeanor counts amid accusations he conducted illegal strip searches on women during traffic stops in 2010, telling some he needed to check for incriminating tattoos.

SALT LAKE CITY — Former Box Elder County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott R. Womack was charged by federal prosecutors Wednesday with eight misdemeanor counts of deprivation of rights for alleged actions that occurred while he was on duty in 2010.

Attorneys claimed in court documents filed Wednesday that deputy Scott R. Womack pulled over Talia S. Buck while she was driving near Brigham City and forced her to show her back and lower abdomen to prove she had no tattoos.

Elderly women say TSA made them strip

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Three South Florida women, all elderly and with medical problems, say Transportation Security Administration officers made them take off their clothes during the screening process at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport last week.

All three, one with a defibrillator, one with a colostomy bag and the other with diabetes, say they were forced to disrobe in a private room at the same terminal.

Lawsuit filed claiming illegal strip search

SALT LAKE CITY — An 18-year-old woman has filed a civil lawsuit against former Box Elder County Sheriff Deputy Scott R. Womack claiming he forced her to strip, show her breasts and stand in the snow during a traffic stop.
