RFK Jr.'s wife hanged herself

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- The Kennedy family, so practiced at public mourning, is grieving again after the estranged wife of Robert Kennedy Jr. was found dead at her home in suburban New York.

Mary Richardson Kennedy, 52, an architect who struggled with drug and alcohol charges in recent years, hanged herself.

Community invited to LGBT discussion

Vigil speakers urge end to bullying, suicides of gay teens

OGDEN — Jackson Carter recalled being bullied through elementary school, to the point that he wanted to kill himself.

It started because of his race as a white child on an American Indian reservation near Roosevelt. Then it was because of the weight he put on as he ate to comfort himself after his family moved to Layton. It returned in high school, when he was bullied for his sexual orientation before he had figured it out for himself.

And just last week, second-language teacher Bonnie Flint in Davis County said her district received an email from a gay student who said he was being bullied and called names in the locker room.

NORTH BEND, Wash. -- Authorities in Washington state say they've found a body in an elaborate bunker they had surrounded in the Cascade Mountains, and it appears to be that of a man wanted for killing his wife and teenage daughter last weekend.

OUTreach program to stage rally against bullying, suicide

OGDEN -- Ogden OUTreach, a program for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered teens, is hosting a community rally: "A Community Stands up -- Northern Utah Addresses LGBT Bullying and Suicide" to fight the continuing number of teen suicides, especially among gay teens.

The rally will be at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the Ogden Amphitheater, 343 25th St., Ogden.

Experts say suicide is a growing problem in the Top of Utah

OGDEN — In the past three years, McKay-Dee Hospital has treated more than 2,000 people for attempted suicide.

The problem is growing, experts say, which is why it is more important than ever to discuss it.

“We are losing too many people to suicide, and we need to work to make it OK to talk about feelings and emotions, talk about suicide as an issue and help people know how to get help,” said Kristy L. Jones, community projects coordinator for Intermountain Healthcare’s urban north region.

Driver apparently commits suicide after police chase in N. Ogden

NORTH OGDEN — A driver apparently shot and killed himself after a chase with North Ogden police.

Police pulled over the suspect, who had warrants out for his arrest, in the parking lot of Bicentennial Park near 2650 N. 400 East about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday. He gave officers a false name and took off in his sport utility vehicle, said North Ogden Detective Paul Rhoades in a news release.

The suspect drove his SUV over the curb and through the park.

ISLAMABAD  -- Pakistani acid attack victim Fakhra Younus had endured more than three dozen surgeries over more than a decade to repair her severely damaged face and body when she finally decided life was no longer worth living.
