LDS Young Women Camp turns 100

OGDEN — This summer LDS young women ages 12 to 18 have been celebrating 100 years of girls camp all over the world.

KAYSVILLE — Davis County Republican Party leaders, in an effort to teach grade-school-aged children the founding principles of the United States, have created the first Davis County Patriots Camp.

OGDEN -- In the 12th century, warriors in what is now Europe camped outside enemy fortresses for days, constructing trebuchets, large catapult-type weapons the aggressors would load and fire, hurling the toxins of the day inside the walled courtyards of castles.

Send your child to summer day camp; it’s tax deductible!

Child and dependent care expenses are deductible if the qualifying person is under the age of 13 or is disabled and can be claimed as a dependent of the taxpayer.

The expenses must be to allow the taxpayer to work or look for work. Therefore, the taxpayer must have earned income.

E-coli confirmed at Ogden Valley church camps

OGDEN -- The Weber-Morgan Health Department said today that E-coli bacteria has been found in the water of the Ogden Valley summer camp where 11 girls got sick.

Summer day camp expenses may qualify for tax credit

PHOENIX - - Along with the lazy, hazy days of summer come some extra expenses, including summer day camp. But, the IRS has some good news for parents: those added expenses may help you qualify for a tax credit.

Many parents who work or are looking for work must arrange for care of their children under 13 years of age during the school vacation.

Here are five facts the IRS wants you to know about a tax credit available for child care expenses.

BLM/Forest Service summer camp accepting applications

EPHRAIM - The Nature High Summer Camp is accepting applications from Utah high school students for the week-long adventure held August 1-6, 2011 in Ephraim Canyon, Utah.

Nature High Summer Camp is a weeklong educational camping experience offered to teenagers interested in learning more about natural resources and the environment. The event is held at the historic Great Basin Environmental Education Center, located on the Manti-LaSal National Forest in Ephraim, Utah.
