Shivering for Sundance

OGDEN -- Sundance Film Festival enthusiasts lined up outside Peery’s Egyptian Theater in Ogden on Saturday to receive ticket-purchase appointment cards.

The cold didn't faze them, though Steven and Terri Ballard rested while waiting in line.

Elizabeth Olsen and Josh Radnor star in "Liberal Arts," which is screening at the Ogden venue of the Sundance Film Festival.

Ogden Sundance tickets go on sale Saturday

OGDEN — The 2012 Sundance Film Festival premieres at its Ogden venue two weeks from Saturday, but the best way to make sure you get your coveted seats is to buy tickets this Saturday at Peery’s Egyptian Theater.

Individual tickets for Ogden’s dozen Sundance Film Festival movies are on sale by appointment from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the theater, 2415 Washington Blvd. People in line at 7:30 a.m. will be assigned an appointment time to return for purchases.

Kristin Dunst's "Bachelorette" will screen at the Ogden venue of the Sundance Film Festival in January.

Dunst, Blunt among big stars in Ogden's Sundance lineup

OGDEN — The 2012 Sundance Film Festival on Friday announced the selection of independent films coming to Ogden.

There will be a dozen films this year, with six premieres starring such actors as Chris Rock, Susan Sarandon, Kirsten Dunst, Josh Radnor, Liv Tyler and Frank Langella. There are three Spotlights, which the festival describes as “Cinema we love,” one showcasing the talent of Emily Blunt. Add to that a Documentary Premiere, a World Dramatic film, a World Documentary, and that’s the lineup.

Film buyers have many choices at Sundance Festival

LOS ANGELES -- By the time the first weekend of the Sundance Film Festival wraps up each January, most film buyers already have started packing their bags. But they'll need to bring extra underwear and socks to Park City in 2012 -- the festival's premiere categories, where the most potentially commercial films are placed, are overflowing with new works, and none of the 15 narrative films has a distribution deal in place, while most of the eight documentaries are looking for a home too.
