Poll: 11 percent of Utahns vaccinated for H1N1

SALT LAKE CITY -- A poll shows just 11 percent of Utahns have received the swine flu vaccine and that many people simply don't want it for a variety of reasons.

The Salt Lake Tribune poll shows others want to get it but haven't because it's not easily available.

According to the poll of 625 Utahns by Washington, D.C.-based Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc., 89 percent haven't gotten the H1N1 vaccine yet.

When asked why not, nearly half of respondents -- 47 percent -- say they're either worried about its side effects and effectiveness, don't see swine flu as a serious threat or don't believe in getting vaccinated.

Another 44 percent say they want to get vaccinated but haven't because of availability issues.

The poll was conducted Nov. 9-11 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
