Teenager dies in Box Elder crash

ELWOOD -- A 15-year-old girl died Saturday afternoon when the car she was riding in ran a stop sign and was struck by a pickup truck, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The white 1999 Oldsmobile Alero in which the girl was a passenger was traveling east on 8000 North and failed to stop at State Road 13, south of the city of Elwood, troopers said.

A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by a 69-year-old Tremonton man struck the car's passenger side door, killing the girl who was riding in the back seat. Two other passengers in the car were airlifted in critical condition to hospitals in the Salt Lake City area. The five occupants of the Alero ranged in age from 15 to 20 years old.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Brigham City Community Hospital in good condition.

No names were released.
