With students' help, teacher collects a million pop tabs (video)

WASHINGTON TERRACE — T.H. Bell Junior High School science teacher Al Ladeau is always talking about numbers.

About 13 years ago, Ladeau — looking to offer his students some perspective on numbers, specifically large ones — got the idea of collecting a million things.

He chose to collect soda pop tabs.

Ladeau recently reached his goal — his one-millionth soda pop tab.

Former coach in overtime in fight against cancer heads to Final Four

There wasn't just "One Shining Moment" on Jerry Coggins' road to the Final Four.

Every moment -- every hour, day and week in the year since Jerry's doctors sent him home to die -- is precious to him.

Doctors told the former University of Utah football player and high school coach last year during the NCAA tournament that a previously undiscovered tumor in his bowels left him three days to live, five at most.

Students catch the spirit of generosity

For the past month, Top of Utah students in almost every grade and almost every school have been gathering items to give to those who are less fortunate.

Students become bookworms for others

WASHINGTON TERRACE -- Student at T.H. Bell Junior High are helping students across the nation get books of their own simply by reading books themselves.

Students in Kellie Lopaz's Scholastic reading classes are participating in a program called "Classrooms Care," sponsored by book publisher Scholastic to help get kids reading and also give disadvantaged kids more books.
