Musical features kids ages 8-14

CLEARFIELD — The public is invited to attend a performance of one of the most beloved fairy tales of all time, “Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Kids,” a limited engagement, at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a 2 p.m. matinee Saturday, at the Clearfield Community Center’s Little Theater, 140 S. State St.

'The Book of Mormon' leads Tony Award nominations

NEW YORK  — "The Book of Mormon" nabbed a leading 14 Tony Award nominations Tuesday morning, earning the profane musical nods for best musical, best book of a musical, best original score, two leading actor spots and two featured actor nominations.

Auditions today for 'Nunsense' play

CLEARFIELD - Those wanting to take their chance in the spotlight, can audition today for a production of "Nunsense."

The Clearfield Community Theater is producing "Nunsense" and is having auditions today from 9 a.m. to noon at the Clearfield Community Center, 140 E. Center St. The Little Theater inside the Community Center will also be the location of callbacks today at 1 p.m.

Does insanity run in families? It does in the case of the Brewsters in the classic screwball comedy "Arsenic and Old Lace," opening Thursday at Weber High School.

Orchesis Dance Theatre moves to motion of water

The ebb and flow of the tides will inspire dancers in "Water Study," part of Orchesis Dance Theatre's spring concert.

The dance company performs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and April 1 and 2 in the Browning Center's Allred Theater at Weber State University, 3848 Harrison Blvd.

Princess put to the test as Ogden district puts on show

Theater students from four schools are coming together for one production as the Ogden School District's musical theater department presents its spring production "Once Upon a Mattress."

The musical, based upon the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea," tells the story of a feisty princess whose royal highness is put to the test by a cranky queen.

'The Diary of Anne Frank' opens in renovated Bonneville High theater

OGDEN -- "The Diary of Anne Frank," the timeless story set against a horrific backdrop, opens today in Bonneville High School's newly renovated Little Theater.

The play tells the story of the famous teenager, whose Jewish family hid from Nazis in Amsterdam for two years, until they were captured and taken to the concentration camps. Frank's diary has stood for generations as a tribute to the human spirit and has been the subject of several books, plays and films.

This version of her diary was adapted for the stage by Wendy Kesselman in 1997. Pioneer Memorial Theatre at the University of Utah is also mounting a production of Kesselman's play, also opening this evening in Salt Lake City.
