OGDEN -- Authorities have filed charges against a 16-year-old boy accused in a plot to detonate a bomb at a Roy High School.

David Alan Anderson entered a guilty plea to a single count of possessing a dangerous weapon Thursday in Salt Lake City.

ROY -- Friday at Roy High School ended pretty normally for a day that began with three security-trained sniffer dogs nosing students' backpacks.

The day continued with classroom doors locked during classes, and all exterior doors except the front locked and posted with signs that directed visitors to the office.

Then there were the patrolling Roy police officers, three to five at different times during the day. Teachers and administrators also were on high alert for anything that seemed unusual or threatening.

SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah man has been ordered to stay in jail after allegedly smuggling a knife onto a plane and threatening to slit the throat of his seatmate during a tussle over a shared armrest.

SALT LAKE CITY -- A Salt Lake City man faces federal felony charges after authorities say he threatened a seatmate on a Las Vegas-bound flight.

Roy school graffiti included 'veiled threats'

ROY -- Vandals snuck onto the grounds of Roy Junior High School early Tuesday and spray painted messages on the building and other items.

By midmorning, crews from Weber County School District had cleaned almost all traces of the paint from trees, windows, brick walls and benches.

Weber School District spokesman Nate Taggart said the graffiti did not appear to be gang-related, but before it was cleaned up school resource officers from the Roy City Police Department took down information to compare it to other graffiti.

Taggart said much of the graffiti was nonsensica
