OGDEN -- A 16-year-old walked away unhurt from a rol over accident on Interstate 84 about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The teen was heading toward Ogden from Morgan in the fast lane when he dropped something on the floor of his older model four-door BMW, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Michael Pope said.
When he started veering left, the driver overcorrected and crossed both lanes of traffic, going off the right shoulder and knocking down two field fences about mile post 87. Pope said the vehicle hit an embankment and rolled over.
"The damage was pretty severe, but he was wearing his seat belt so he ended up with minor cuts," Pope said. "The seat belt pretty much saved him."
The car ended up about 50 to 75 yards from the Weber River, Pope said. If the accident happened any sooner, the driver would have ended up in the river.
