HYDERABAD, India -- A passenger train rammed into a parked freight train and caught fire before dawn Tuesday in southern India, killing at least 25 people and injuring dozens more.

Polish train collision kills 16

SZCZEKOCINY, Poland -- Poland's government insisted Sunday that rail travel is safe in the country despite a train collision that killed 16 people, assurances that come months before masses of sports fans will enter the country for a major soccer tournament -- many of whom will crisscross the nation by train.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina -- A packed train slammed into the end of the line in Buenos Aires' busy Once station Wednesday, killing 49 people and injuring hundreds of morning commuters in Argentina's worst train accident in decades.

HAMILTON, N.J. -- N.J. Transit's modern train station in Hamilton, just north of Trenton, is a favorite with commuters, with lots of parking and easy access to I-295.

The station is also a favorite among death-seekers.

Five people in two years have been killed by trains there, all apparent suicides.

Amtrak trains, which don't stop at Hamilton, speed by the station at up to 135 m.p.h. on their way to and from New York City.

TISKILWA, Ill. -- A freight train loaded with ethanol crashed and exploded Friday, sending up bright orange flames and plumes of smoke that could be seen miles away and forcing the evacuation of a small town in northern Illinois.

Train crushes car after man abandons it on tracks in Roy

ROY -- Ronald J. Degroot, 41, was arrested Thursday morning after a freight train destroyed his car -- which police say he abandoned on the tracks.

Degroot left his Roy home in his compact sedan after a fight with his wife. He eventually parked the car on the train tracks near the 4800 South and 1900 West intersection.

"He was there awhile, then changed his mind (about the car), but he was unable to move it," said Anna Bond, spokeswoman for the Roy Police Department. Police are not sure why he was unable to move the car, though he did abandon it after he realized he could not, Bond said.
