Utah's first car-sharing program finishes launch

SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah's first car-sharing program has finished its launch.

Most of the 28 cars available for hourly rental will be in Salt Lake City. A couple will be in Ogden and a few are along the TRAX line between Salt Lake and Sandy.

Those who want to use a car reserve it online, then go to the location, swipe an electronic card and get inside, where the keys are waiting.

U-Haul's U Car Share was introduced in Utah in August with 12 cars. On Wednesday the rest of the 28-car program debuted. Most of the vehicles are fuel-efficient models or hybrids.

Other car sharing programs are in Oregon, Maine, Virginia, Wisconsin, Massachusetts and California.
