SOUTH SALT LAKE -- A woman has died after she was struck by a TRAX commuter train in South Salt Lake.

OGDEN -- If you're near one of the Utah Transit Authority's rail lines, and you aren't paying attention, it might cost you -- literally.

OGDEN — The eyes of adults and children followed the trains weaving their way through intricate model layouts of countryside, construction sites and metropolitan areas.

The 23rd annual Hostlers Model Railroad Festival was full steam ahead.

SALT LAKE CITY -- A performance audit of the Utah Transit Authority shows the agency might not have the money to build wanted future projects or even operate projects that are currently under construction.

LAYTON -- The Utah Transit Authority is getting serious about its proposal to move to a distance-based fare system.

The agency's board has announced it will begin to hold several public meetings in 2012 to meet with UTA riders and stakeholders to discuss the ramifications of charging transit users based on how far they travel instead of one flat rate.

"Basically, we are getting ready to start a yearlong public discussion to think about distance-based fares," UTA spokesman Brandon Bott said. "The board approved moving forward on that, so that's what we will do."

WEST VALLEY CITY -- A bicyclist has been killed after a morning crash with a TRAX train in West Valley City.

MURRAY -- Police say an 86-year-old man from Midvale was hit and killed by a lightrail train in Murray.
