Utah claims victory in food drive

SALT LAKE CITY -- Fans of the University of Utah and Brigham Young University raised more than $115,500 and 395,000 pounds of food in a food drive centered around the state's biggest football game.

Although the Utes lost the big game to the Cougars on Nov. 28, Utah came out slightly ahead in the final donation tally.

The school says Utes fans donated $60,228 and 232,767 pounds for area food pantries. BYU's total $55,285 and 162,318 pounds of food.

The schools say everybody won in the friendly contest because so much was raised for people who need it.
