 LOGAN -- After 40 years of classical and choral concerts, Utah State University's 3,000-piece Holtkamp organ had serious sonic issues.

Aggies' Medlin earns WAC honor

LOGAN -- Utah State men's basketball player Preston Medlin has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference player of the week it was announced by the league office Monday. It is the first time in his career that Medlin has garnered the league's weekly honor.

Medlin, a 6-foot-4 sophomore guard from Carrollton, Texas, led Utah State to a pair of WAC home wins last week against Hawaii (77-72) and San Jose State (82-65).

Against the Rainbow Warriors, Medlin scored 25 points as he was 5-of-11 from the field, 2-of-5 from 3-point range and 13-for-14 at the free throw line. He also had two rebounds, two assists and one steal in the game.

Idaho edges Utah State 57-54 in late-night WAC play

MOSCOW, Idaho -- Stephen Madison hit a 3-pointer with 20 seconds remaining to help Idaho beat the Utah State Aggies 57-54 Saturday night.

Preston Medlin had a chance to tie the game with five seconds remaining, but missed short and the Aggies (10-10, 2-3) were forced to foul to end the game.

Madison's 3-point shot was part of a 10-1 run with just under four minutes remaining to help Idaho (10-9, 3-2 WAC) erase a nine-point deficit.

Djim Bandoumel came off the bench and led Idaho with 16 points and Deremy Geiger added 12 points. Bandoumel scored 11 points in the second half to help the Vandals in the win. Idaho's bench scored 25 points.

Idaho forced 16 Aggie turnovers and had eight steals in the contest.

USU issues apology for barbs at BYU player

LOGAN -- Utah State is known for one of the most raucous basketball crowds in the country, but school officials say fans went too far in the home opener against rival Brigham Young and Cougars center Brandon Davies.

PROVO -- The nationally televised 31-16 beat-down Utah State gave Brigham Young a year ago was the major reason the Aggies were able to lure quarterback Chuckie Keeton out of Texas.
