Hooper mother of 10 writes book to help out parents

Hooper homemaker and and mother of 10 children Debbie Bowen has written a book to help today's mothers cope with raising children during their hectic, million-miles-an-hour schedules.

"From Pampered to Productive: Raising Children Who Know How to Work" (Cedar Fort, $11.99) outlines 10 formulas to help raise children with the values vital to their growth to help them become productive leaders and successful adults. Among other skills, Bowens said parents can lower their stress levels by teaching their children to work by turning chore time into family fun time.

OGDEN — It felt a little like “The Price is Right” at Mound Fort Junior High School on Thursday morning, as best-selling young-adult author Brandon Mull took answers from the audience on creative ways a character could travel to another world.

Three students lined up in the front of the auditorium as he showed examples of how to create a story. Students took suggestions from their peers amid laughter and giggles at some of the ideas.

“A shower!” one student yelled.
