The Utah Civil War 150 Committee plans living history events, reading and discussion groups, and field trips to Western points of interest during the sesquicentennial observance that runs through 2015.
SBlt Civil War Era Ball and Fort Douglas Day -- June 17-18. Historical clothing is preferred, but not required, at the ball at 7 p.m. June 17 at the Fort Douglas Museum, 32 Potter St., Salt Lake City. Demonstrations on 19th-century dancing will be presented; admission is $5.
Fort Douglas Day activities, including a Civil War encampment and displays on World War I and II, run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 18 at the museum. Admission is free. For more information, call 801-581-1251.
