OGDEN — Utah Department of Transportation closed a portion of Washington Boulevard for the next two days.

UDOT spokesman Vic Saunders said the southbound lane is closed from 32nd Street to 34th Street as crews fix a sink hole in the road that occurred during a resurfacing project.

Motorists will be routed to Grant Avenue at 32nd Street and can connect with Washington again at 34th Street.

Alpine pass SR 39 to open for summer Saturday

OGDEN — State Road 39, the Monte Cristo Highway, will open for the summer at noon Saturday. Once the gates are opened, commuters will have access to the entire length between Mile Marker 37, east of Huntsville, and Mile Marker 56, near Woodruff in Rich County, according to a Utah Department of Transportation news release.

UDOT warns that the highway is still an alpine pass, so drivers should be ready for winter weather conditions that can strike any time in the next month.

A new highway work zone study conducted by the Associated General Contractors of America revealed that 68 percent of the nation’s highway contractors had motor vehicles crash into their construction work zones during the past year.

Group: An I-15 interchange at Shepard Lane would bottleneck

FARMINGTON -- A group of Davis County residents oppose one of the West Davis Corridor options so much, they've decided to buy a billboard along Interstate 15 to demonstrate their displeasure.

The billboard, which is on the west side of I-15 and is viewable in the northbound lane, sits between Pages Lane and Porter Lane in Centerville and reads, "WARNING: I-15 Bottleneck Coming. UDOT: www.StopTheBottleNeck.com."

If the West Davis Corridor gets built, it will include an interchange off I-15 that connects to the road in Farmington and southern Kaysville. The state will build the interchange at either Glovers Lane or Shepard Lane.
