Knudson announces desire for re-election

SALT LAKE CITY -- Legislation that would limit when the owners of billboards could be forced by government agencies to tear down their outdoor advertising is not likely to be debated this session, Sen. Peter Knudson, R-Brigham City, said Wednesday.

Knudson said the legislation he sponsored, SB 112, would likely be dormant unless needed as the people interested in the proposal work out a private agreement.

The bill is one of many the three-term senator is handling for his Top of Utah district.

Knudson also announced Wednesday he will seek re-election to the District 17 seat, which includes Box Elder, Cache and Tooele counties.

Knudson is the Senate's assistant majority whip. He also served two terms in the House before moving over to the Senate.

He said a priority in his campaign is to watch over and help with business development in his region and the state.

With his wife at his side, Knudson made the re-election announcement in the Capitol building.
