Immigration rally planned in SLC

SALT LAKE CITY — A rally against measures to pass an Arizona SB 1070-style bill in Utah will take place on the Capitol steps from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. today.

The rally, organized by the Utah-based United for Social Justice, is opposed to state immigration bills such as the one proposed by Rep. Stephen Sandstrom, R-Orem.

The event is meant to correspond with the first day of this year’s session of the Utah Legislature.
