Weber County Clerk's office busy on 'day of love'

OGDEN -- Staff members from the Weber County Clerk/Auditor's Office put together eight red baskets loaded with chocolates, lotions and gift certificates Tuesday morning.

The baskets were wedding presents for couples coming in for Valentine's Day nuptials.

"We talked about it last year," said Weber County Clerk/Auditor Ricky Hatch, "but we didn't have enough time."

This year, the staff asked local businesses for donations.

NORTH OGDEN -- City council members believed raising rental rates for the North View Senior Center would be lucrative for the city, but they were wrong. Since the city raised its rates last year to $300 for residents and $500 for nonresidents, the building has sat virtually empty on rental availability nights.
