Cache community pantry plans expansion

LOGAN -- A northern Utah community food pantry has plan for an expansion of its storage and administriave facilities.

Cache County Community Food Pantry Director Matthew Whitaker says the 17-year-old facility -- a warehouse built to house electrical equipment -- is no longer large enough to meet its needs.

The nonprofit pantry accepts food donations from individuals and organizations and distributes them to the needy.

Logan's city planning commission has already approved plans for the pantry's new facility.

But Whitaker says contruction won't start until after a funraising campaign. He says the hope is to raise $350,000 and break ground in the spring. He says two out-of-state entities have pledged large contributions if the fundraising goal is met.
