Clearfield teen faces felony grand theft charge in Idaho

TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- Police say a Utah teen who refused to pull over during a routine traffic stop in south-central Idaho was driving a car that had been reported stolen in his home state.

Court records show 18-year-old Joshua Andrew Sotomayor, of Clearfield, Utah, faces charges of felony grand theft and misdemeanor attempting to elude a police officer in Idaho's 5th District Court.

Sotomayor also faces a misdemeanor charge of driving without privileges at a preliminary hearing next week.

Police say Sotomayor fled from a state trooper who attempted to pull him over on Dec. 20 in Idaho's Minidoka County. Authorities say Sotomayor led them on a high-speed chase that ended with his arrest.

Police say the car Sotomayor was driving had been reported stolen in Utah.
