CLEARFIELD -- It's time for weaving yarns and entertaining people.
Storytellers throughout Northern Utah are invited to participate in the fourth annual Clearfield City Storytelling Festival, scheduled for 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 29.
Storyteller applications can be found on the city website, www.clearfieldcity.org.
Applications are due today and may be brought to Clearfield City Community Services, 55 S. State St.
"We invite professional tellers to come and join us at the Clearfield festival -- and novice storytellers," said Clearfield City Special Events Coordinator Natalee Flynn.
Participants may choose from several different categories: poetry, cowboy poetry, folk story, tall tale, ghost story, fairy tale, children's story and original work.
Each teller is allowed to share one story not to exceed six minutes. All material must be suitable for a general audience. There is not a minimum age to participate, but each storyteller must be able to recite his or her story with confidence, and speak clearly and fluently in front of an audience.
Preview sessions are scheduled from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday or Wednesday.
The preview sessions, as well as the actual festival, will be at the Clearfield Community Center Little Theater, 140 E. Center St.
The event is free to attend. Anyone with questions may call 801-525-2790 or 801-525-2796.
