Grant to help Farmington Police upgrade equipment

FARMINGTON -- Farmington Police Department will convert to a new digital format in two patrol cars for producing footage for evidence, thanks to a $7,500 grant from the Utah Commission on Criminal Justice.

Police Chief Wayne Hansen said the grant will allow the department to replace VHS equipment with new digital equipment. He said the old technology was cumbersome and many of the attorney's offices and courts the department works with have gone from VHS to digital copies of needed footage.

The city council formally voted to accept the grant.
