TREMONTON -- A Snowville man is alive after his car went off an overpass and crashed into the road below.
Daniel Rowe, 40, was traveling southbound on Interstate 15 on Tuesday when his 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche drifted into the median near Mile Marker 380. It appears he fell asleep at the wheel, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Brian Nelson.
The car vaulted 97 feet onto Tremonton's Main Street below. The left front corner of the vehicle hit the road first, causing the car to spin sideways. It eventually came to rest on its wheels, facing west.
Rowe did not hit any other vehicles. No other passengers were in his car.
Rowe was transported to Tremonton Hospital with broken bones, but no life-threatening injuries.
"He's pretty dang lucky to be alive," Nelson said.
Charges are pending against him for failure to operate within one lane, Nelson said.
