CLEARFIELD -- Something about a vacant house looked different Tuesday morning, so a neighbor investigated. What she found was a woman's body, which police have yet to identify.
Clearfield police say the neighbor noticed an open door to a vacant residence near her home around 10 a.m. Tuesday.
"As she approached the door to investigate, she observed a female lying on the floor inside the home," Assistant Chief Mike Stenquist said in a news release.
"Officers were called, and upon arrival, they found the woman inside the vacant home was deceased."
Police are not releasing the location of the house for security reasons.
The deceased female is described as Hispanic, approximately 25 to 35 years old, with brown hair and brown eyes. She is about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. She has a decorative band tattoo on the underside of her right wrist and another tattoo, in heart patterns with the letters "Chiques 13" and "SUR," in the middle of her back.
She was wearing dark blue sweat pants, black shoes and a pink, short-sleeved shirt over a red, short-sleeved shirt.
The death is being investigated by the Clearfield Police Department, Davis County Crime Lab and Utah State Medical Examiner's Office.
Officers did not find any obvious signs of injury or trauma, and it appears the woman had been deceased for 24 to 48 hours before discovery.
Police ask for help in identifying this person. Anyone with information can call the Clearfield Police Department Dispatch Center at 801-525-2806.
