Police seek man in kidnap attempt

OGDEN -- Police are looking for a Hispanic male they think tried to kidnap a woman around noon Tuesday.

Lt. Danielle Croyle said a woman in the 400 North block of 400 East told police she went to her neighborhood mailbox at 12:10 p.m.

She told police a Hispanic male in his 30s or 40s, with dark hair, driving a green or teal Windstar or similar older van, came up to her at the mailbox, grabbed her arm and spoke to her in Spanish.

Croyle said the woman, who is white and petite, "was able to pull away" and the assailant fled in the van.

"She's OK, she wasn't injured in the attempt, but we don't have a license number or other ID," Croyle said.

She said police are considering the possibility the woman was mistaken for someone else.
