SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah National Guard says 33 air guardsmen from the 151st Security Forces Squadron have deployed to Iraq for a six month tour.
The unit departed from Salt Lake City International Airport on Thursday. The 151st will be assisting airbase defensive forces in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In a news release, guard officials say the 151st will lead a team of four other active duty, reserve and air guard units from around the country.
The deployment is part of the 151st's regular rotation. The squadron is scheduled to return in August.
The squadron includes guard members from Castledale, Centerville, Clearfield, Clinton, Eagle Mountain, Herriman, Kamas, Kearns, Layton, Logan, Menden, Murray, Provo, Roosevelt, Roy, Saratoga Springs, Spanish Fork, Syracuse, Tooele, West Jordan, West Point, West Valley City, and Rigby, Idaho.
