SALT LAKE CITY -- A loose moose on a Utah interstate triggered a five-vehicle crash that injured one man and killed the animal.
KSL-TV in Salt Lake City reported that two cars swerved and avoided hitting the moose early Tuesday on Interstate 80 in Parley's Canyon, but a third car hit it.
Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Todd Johnson says the moose was killed instantly.
The vehicle driver was taken to a Utah hospital with minor neck and back injuries.
The Tuesday crash happened in an area where another moose was hit last week.
Officials say that as spring arrives, moose are beginning to migrate.
A fence has been installed along the freeway in Parley's Canyon to prevent similar crashes.
