LAYTON -- The first LDS bishop of Kays Ward, later Kaysville, will be the topic at the Sons of the Utah Pioneers meeting 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Davis County Central Branch Library, 155 N. Wasatch Drive.
William Kay was a pioneer and the first Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints bishop for Kays Ward, said Stephen G. Handy, spokesman for the Sons of the Utah Pioneers Snow Horse Chapter.
The program will be presented by Jay Burrup, of the LDS Church History Department and a descendant of William Kay, Handy said. Burrup is a popular speaker and will provide new insights and research into the life of Kay, he added.
Guests and history buffs are welcome to attend, especially those seeking more information about membership in the Sons of the Utah Pioneers, Handy said.
