SALT LAKE CITY -- Public health officials are confirming a fifth case of measles in the Salt Lake City area.
Salt Lake Valley Health Department spokeswoman Pam Davenport says the fifth case was confirmed Tuesday.
Another case is probable, but no other cases are suspected.
Davenport says the victims live in Salt Lake County and no cases are suspected outside of the county.
The measles outbreak started Thursday with a student at Olympus High School in a Salt Lake City suburb. The other cases are all connected to the first.
Students who are not vaccinated against measles and were exposed at four schools have been sent home.
Davenport says the health department is encouraging testing and voluntary quarantine until April 25 for anyone potentially exposed to the illness who has not been vaccinated.
