Tax-delinquent land for sale today

FARMINGTON -- Today's sale of tax delinquent properties at Davis Conference Center, 1651 N. 700 West, Layton, includes no homes or commercial properties, but does include about 38 lots.

The county's annual May tax sale begins at 10 a.m.

The majority of parcels for sale are "slivers" of land, said Davis County Deputy Auditor Cherie Mayer. One parcel of property in South Weber is 4.1 acres, with a tax amount of $17,580.78 owed, according to sale documents.

A property has to be five years delinquent on taxes before it can appear on the auction rolls, Davis County Clerk/Auditor Steve Rawlings said.

County Commissioner Louenda Downs commended county staff for being able to capture the back taxes on many properties to prevent them from going to sale, especially those lots with homes on them.
