Police break up central Utah drug ring

NEPHI -- Police in central Utah have arrested more than two dozen people after a yearlong investigation into suspected drug and burglary rings.

Fox 13 says the arrests include many people accused of distributing heroin, pain pills and marijuana in Juab and Sanpete counties.

The two counties are about 80 miles south of Salt Lake City.

Juab County Sheriff Alden Orme says the arrests began Thursday morning while many of the suspects were still asleep.

Police also arrested multiple people they say were involved in more than 100 car burglaries.

The burglaries were discovered by undercover narcotics agents investigating the drug ring. Authorities say stolen car parts were being sold for cash that was then used to purchase drugs.
